We can divide all the cryptograpgy algorithms (ciphers) into two groups:
Private (Secret) Key Cryptography:
In Secret key cryptography, the same key is used by both parties. The sender uses this key and an encryption algorithm to encrypt data; the receiver uses the same key and the corresponding decryption algorithm to decrypt the data. It is also known as Symmetric Key Cryptography.

There are several types of symmetric algorithms. Some of the most popular are:

=> International Data Encryption Algorithm (IDEA)
=> Blowfish
